Please excuse all of the lines that start with a period. These are the format
commands for NewtonBooks. If you have the room I recommend installing the
PocketMoney manual that is in NewtonBook format. It includes the screen shots
and is formatted a bit nicer so the manual will read a little better.

The little blocks in the right hand column are DOS linefeeds so that DOS users
will be able to read this manual also.

Search for R***S to see the new additions to this text version of the manual.

*** If anyone thinks this manual is lousy and would like to improve it go
ahead. Also, please send me comments on the manual (where you would like to see
it improve, more details added, more samples added). ***

.subject StartsPage About .story I almost wrote this manual without telling
you what PocketMoney does. Not that you wouldnUt have been able to figure it
out, but a short blurb is also handy.

PocketMoney is the best-selling personal financial management Shareware package
for the Newton. PocketMoney will keep track of your checkbook, savings, credit
card, and other accounts. You will always have your account balances in hand.
You can use PocketMoney as a stand-alone money manager or you can use it as a
data collection device and export the data to your financial package when you
get back home.

.subject StartsPage WhatUs Included .story You should have found 6 files when
you uncompressed PocketMoney.sit. PocketMoney.pkg is the main program. You will
need about 130kof memory free to install it on your Newton. PM_Man.pkg is this
documentation. README.TXT short summary, contact info and version history.
ScrollingDoPopup.pkg allows PocketMoney popups to scroll off the screen. This
allows you to have unlimited number of accounts, categories, and payees.
PocketButton.pkg installs a little button into the notepad status bar.
NotifAssist.pkg (by Bill Kearney) allows you to use Assist on the text in the
Notify boxes.

.subject StartsPage Installation .story PocketMoney is shipped as a Newton
package, which is a Newton program file. To install the PocketMoney package
onto your Newton you will need either the Newton Connection Kit, the Newton
Package Downloader, or the equivalent. Refer to the instructions that came
with one of these applications to determine how you need to proceed.

.subject StartsPage Opening PocketMoney on the Newton .story Once you have
installed PocketMoney onto your Newton, you can proceed to manage your money
more effectively! To access PocketMoney, simply tap the Extras button, then
tap the icon labeled PocketMoney.

.subject StartsPage Registration Screen & Registering .story The first time
you use PocketMoney (and until you register it), you will be presented with
PocketMoneyUs Registration screen. If you are simply evaluating PocketMoney
and have not registered yet, simply press the Not Yet button and continue into
PocketMoney. After you register, you will be sent a registration code to
"unlock" your copy of PocketMoney. PocketMoney is not crippled in any way
except for the Registration screen appearing each time you run PocketMoney.

If you have registered, enter your registration code on the Registration
screen. Enter the code exactly as it appears on your registration notice.
When your code is entered correctly, press the Register button. Remember, all
letters in your registration code are in lower case, so any 0's are the number
zero.

To register PocketMoney you must send $20.00 to: Hardy Macia P.O. Box 8276
Essex VT 05451, USA

I will accept the registration fee in cash, check, or money order.

If you live outside the US then I will accept foreign currency that is
equivalent to $20 US dollars or I will accept a foreign check for the
equivalent of $40 US dollars. The additional $20 is to cover my bankUs
processing fee.

You might also try emailing me and I might be able to give you a name of
someone in your country that is on compuserve who will be able to accept
payment from you and register the software via compuserve.

Canadian residents can send a check payable in Candian funds, but make sure you
have the current exchange rate + 2% included. It is currently about 32%.

Compuserve members have can register online GO: SWREG and look for ID:2760. The
charge for online registration on CompuServe is $24.

If you can send NewtonMail then sending your name card to RHardyMaciaS would
also be appreciated because it will save me the hassle of writing/typing in all
of your information.

.subject StartsPage name=NewEntries Creating New Entries .story After you pass
the Registration screen you will be in the Overview screen because you have not
entered any data yet. To enter data tap the new button. A popup of three
choices will appears. .picture

.subject 2 StartsPage Deposits .story Any kinds of transactions that will
increase your net worth is a Deposit. These transactions can be depositing your
paper route money into your savings accounts, or reducing your credit card
balance by paying some of the outstanding balance

.subject 2 startsPage Withdrawals .story Any kind of transactions that will
decrease your net worth is a withdraw. These transactions include writing
checks, withdrawing money with your ATM card, spending $10 at the movies, or
using your credit card to purchase a new snowboard.

.subject 2 startsPage Transfers .story Transactions that do not change your net
worth because money is just being moved between accounts is a transfer. These
transactions will include transfers from your checking account to your pocket
change account or transfers from your checking account to your credit card
account because you are paying your credit card bill.

.subject StartsPage Setting Up Accounts .story Initially you will not have any
account balances in PocketMoney. You will need to create Opening/Starting
balances for all of your accounts. LetUs setup a checking, savings, pocket and
credit card accounts. These accounts are the defaults given to you by the
program, but you can change the names of the accounts and add as many other
accounts as you need.

.subject 2 Checking .story LetUs create an initial balance in your checking
account of $354.88. Tap the New button and pick deposit. Change the account to
Checking by tapping on the account label. Leave the category blank. Enter
RStarting BalanceS or ROpening BalanceS in the From field. Enter 354.88 for the
amount.

.subject 2 Savings .story LetUs create an initial balance in your savings
account of $2,323.88. Tap the New button and pick deposit. Change the account
to Savings. Leave the category blank. Enter ROpening BalanceS in the from
field. Enter 2323.88 in the amount field.

.subject 2 Pocket .story LetUs create an initial balance in your pocket (cash
on hand) account. Tap the New button and pick deposit. Change the account to
Pocket. Enter the amount of money you have in your pocket.

.subject 2 Credit Card .story LetUs create an initial balance in your savings
account of $1,224.69. Tap the New button and pick withdraw. You must pick
withdraw because you owe this money. Look at your last credit card statement
and enter your current outstanding balance of 1224.69.

.subject StartsPage Filling in the Entry Screen .picture

.story The entry screen is where the majority of your editing will take place.
The field descriptions for the entry screen are:

.subject 2 Date .story The date and time that the transaction took place. Must
be of the format RJune 16, 1994 2:35 amS. You have the option of either
display the date or the date&time. You can set this option in the prefs. .story
goto=DateEditor (see Appendix B for using the date editor)

.subject 2 Account .story These are the accounts that you have created and are
tracking money for. .story goto=ListEditor (see Appendix A for using the list
editor)

.subject 2 Category .story This is allows you to categorize your transactions.
You can set the category to RFoodS or REntertainmentS and get a report showing
how much you spent on food or entertainment. .story goto=ListEditor (see
Appendix A for using the list editor)

.subject 2 Payee (From/To/Trans To/Trans From) .story This field now is 2 lines
longs so that long names can be entered. If you have problems writing into this
field because you are trying to start your letters to high and it is activating
the category popup then try writing the words so that it will straddle the
first base line. .story goto=ListEditor (see Appendix A for using the list
editor) .picture

.story This field changes the popup depending on the type of transaction and
what is entered:

.subject 3 Transfers: .story You can not write in the text field. Only the
trans to/trans from popup is usable. It has a list of accounts to transfer
to/from.

.subject 3 Deposit/Withdraw: .story You can write in the text field or you can
choose from the popup. To and From have separate popups.

.subject 4 Search Names Button .picture

.story This button allows you to search name file similar to how you would in
the telephone call slip. After you enter part of the name you can tap the
search name file button to search the names. If names are found the black
diamond will change to a <> hollow diamond meaning that the popup list now
contains all of the items found in the search.

.subject 4 Search PocketMoney Button .picture

.story This button will search your PocketMoney data until it finds a partial
match for what you have entered on the payee (From/To/Trans To/Trans From)
line. When the match is found all of the data is copied into the current entry.
This can be used with any type of transactions. You might use it if you have a
rent payment to make. You just enter who you would make your check out to and
then tap the Search PocketMoney Button. The account, category, payee, amount,
and description will all be carried forward for you. This will match partial
payee fields. What this means is that you can enter RShopS and tapping the
Search PocketMoney Button will find the first entry that begins with shop and
fill in the rest. So, RShopS will change to RShop & SaveS if I were to tap the
search PocketMoney button.

.subject 2 Id# .story You can enter check numbers, ATM numbers or any other Id#
that you wish into this field. If you wish to put ATM id#s into the Id# field
then you should prefix or postfix the number with RATMS or some character to
distinguish your non-check numbers from your check numbers. The popup list
gives you seven options - RNew Check #S, RATM #S, RATM # (w/fee)S, RDebit
Card#S, RCredit Card#S, RETF#, SVisa#S and R#S. RNew Check #S causes
PocketMoney to search back thru old entries to find the next check number. When
an old check number is found one is added to it and the number is put into the
id# field. The old check number is the first numeric only entry in the id#
field found when searching backwards from the current entry. RATM # (w/fee)S
will add a new withdrawal entry automatically for you with the current fee that
you set in the preference screen. No entry will be added if the fee is 0 or
blank. Every time you chose this from the popup list a new fee will be added.
Rw/S means RwithS incase you were wondering. RATM #S, RDebit Card#S, RCredit
Card#S, RETF#S, RVisa#S, and R#Sreceive no special processing. It is placed
into the entry line. RETFS stands for Electronic Funds Processing. I included
the plain R#S to cover all other possibilites.

.subject 2 Amount .story The amount of the transaction. Tapping the diamond
label you can pick from some common withdrawal amounts at ATM machines. The
popup list will be sorted in alphabetical order so if you want your amounts to
line up in numerical order you must pad to the left of the number with zeros
when you add it in the amount editor. For example R0050S. This will change in a
future version. .story goto=ListEditor (see Appendix A for using the list
editor)

.subject 2 Cleared .story Checking this box means that the item has cleared the
bank.

.subject 2 Notes .story Just like the memo field of checks, but I give you more
space.

.subject 2 Folder .story The folder that the current entry is filed in.

.subject 2 Transaction Type .story The type of the transaction (Deposit,
Withdraw, Transfer)

.subject 2 Balance .story The balance of the account that the current entry is
in, after the entry is taken into account.

.subject StartsPage Overview Screen .story The overview screen gives you a
quick look at your data, a fast way to get to a specific entry, and a way to
clear a large number of entries quickly.

.picture

.subject 2 startspage Check boxes .story Tapping on the check boxes will mark
the item cleared or uncleared. If you tap anywhere else the view will change to
the data entry view for the item you tap on.

Transfer entries are either both cleared or both uncleared. The overview does
not update the other entry correctly so keep in mind for transfers when you tap
cleared or not cleared it applies to both.

.subject 2 Update Running Balances .story This is just a reminder that if you
have compute running balances selected in the preferences then the overview
will take longer because it must recalculate all of the balances. You can speed
viewing the overview up by rolling up your data often so that you have less
data to calculate balances for. I only use this feature when absolutely
necessary.

.subject 2 Setting the Scrolling .story The amount that the screen can scroll
can be set in the prefs. There is an option to allow the overview to scroll at
a full screen at a time or an half a screen at a time. The default setting is
full screen.

.subject StartsPage Status Bar Buttons

.subject 2 Info Button .picture

.story The info button popup has a list of choices that show additional info.
.picture

.subject 3 About: .story About will display a screen with the version of
PocketMoney that you are using and techical support contact information.

.subject 3 Prefs: .story Opens the prefs screen. .story goto=Prefs (See Setting
Preferences for more info)

.subject 3 Filtered Balance: .story Sums up the amounts based on the current
filter setting. This will allow you to get the balance for a current set of
data without having to switch the show running balances on and off in the
overview. For example you can set the category to RfoodS and selecting Filtered
Balances will give the total that you have spent on food accross all of your
accounts.

.subject 3 Account Balances: .story Opens the account balances screen which
shows you at a glance all of your account balances and your total worth.

.subject 2 New .story goto=NewEntries (see Creating New Entries section)

.subject 2 Filter .story goto=Filters (see Using Filters)

.subject 2 Keyboard .story Like in the Notepad tapping this icon will display
the built-in keyboards in sequence (numeric, alpha-numeric, date, telephone).

.subject 2 Filing Folder .picture

.story PocketMoney supports standard Newton filing. To file an item, display
it in the Entry View, then press the filing folder button and file the item.
See the Newton MessagePad User Guide for more information about Filing.

.subject 2 Action Envelope .picture

.picture

.subject 3 Reconcile Account: .story goto=Reconcile (See Reconcile Accounts
section for more info)

.subject 3 Rollup Items: .story goto=RollingUp (See Rolling Up Items section
for more info)

.subject 3 Recompute Balances: .story Recalculates all of your account
balances. (Replaces the Clear_Button.pkg that was distributed with earlier
versions). You must recompute balances if you modify your amounts or add new
entries to PocketMoney via the Newton Connection Kit.

*** The recompute balance function also adds all categories that it finds to
your category popup. This allows users who are importing Quicken data to
quickly add all of the Quicken categories to the PocketMoney category popup.
***

.subject 3 Goto First Entry: .story Moves you to the first entry.

.subject 3 Goto Date: .story Opens the date picker so that you can select the
date you wish to goto. Tapping the set button will bring you to that date or
the next date found if your selected date wasnUt found.

.subject 3 Goto Last Entry: .story Moves you to the last entry.

.subject 3 Beam: .story Will beam an item to another Newton.

.subject 3 Mail: .story Will e-mail an item to another Newton. This is also
useful if you want to copy the text version of the item to the NotePad.

.subject 3 Delete: .story Will delete the current item.

.subject 3 Duplicate: .story Will duplicate the current item.

.subject 3 Move to/from card: .story Will move an item to or from the memory
card.

.subject 2 Quiting .picture

.story Quits PocketMoney. .picture

.story The little close box just closes a window. It will not quit you from
PocketMoney.

.subject 2 ScrollUp and Down Arrows .story Will move to the next or previous
entry when in the entry view. When in the overview then it will scroll a full
or half screen of entries if possible. If it is not possible to scroll any
further in either direction then a beep will sound. The filter or the balance
screen are closed if you scroll when they are open in the overview.

.subject 2 Overview Dot .story Also known as the Belly Button. This button
toggles the screen between the overview mode and the entry view.

.subject 2 Undo .story Undo up to 2 items. When you scroll to a new item in the
single entry view the Undo buffer is cleared.

.subject 2 Find .story Will allow you to search for any text in the PocketMoney
soup. The only items you can not find are amounts. Amounts are stored as real
numbers and can not be searched on. See your Newton documentation for more
information on Find.

.subject 2 Assist .story goto=Assist (See the Assist section)

.subject StartsPage name=Reconcile Reconcile Accounts .picture

.story Displays the following window allowing you to pick the account you wish
to reconcile and you enter the current balance of your account on the input
line. When you tap Reconcile, PocketMoney will calculate how much must be
posted to the account to reconcile it and prompt you if you want to make the
post of x dollars to your account to reconcile it. Tap ok to make the
reconciliation. .picture

.story The question mark button gives you a reminder that accounts such as
credit cards and loans will have a negative balance, and that you should enter
a negative amount on the input line to reconcile these types of accounts.

.subject StartsPage name=RollingUp Rolling Up Items .story This feature is
supplied for those users who only wish to use PocketMoney to track transactions
on the road and who use a PC or Macintoshed based financial program to track
data the rest of the time. You can export you PocketMoney data to you PC
program and then choose Rollup Items to remove all of the items you just
exported. This way the next time you export you will not get duplicate items.
(You could of course just selected a specific range of dates to export if you
still wish to keep all of the data in PocketMoney).

This feature also works the same as a delete all found items. Basically deletes
all of the items from the current filter and adds one transaction to take their
place.

***
For example, say you have transactions for $20, $30, $20, -$10, -$5. Rolling
up these items will replace these five transactions with one transaction in the
amount of $55.
***

Because it deletes many items this is NOT UNDOABLE so be certain this is what
you wish to do.

Using Rollup Items. Set the filter to select the items you wish to rollup and
the choose Rollup Items. The found items will be counted along with the number
of transfers. Transfers are rolled up also. You will be prompted if you wish to
delete x number of items. Tap ok. You will be reminded that this is NOT
UNDOABLE and if you wish to continue. If you wish to delete all of the items
then tap ok.

.subject StartsPage name=Prefs Setting Preferences .story The preferences
allow you to change the default behavior of some items. .picture

.subject 2 Defaults for New Entries .story Changing the Category, Account, or
To/From pick list will change the default behavior of New. When entering a new
withdraw or deposit will set the Account ,Category, To, and From to what you
have set in the preferences.

.subject 2 Show Running Balance in Overview .story If you have this checked
then the running balance will be displayed in the overview. The running balance
should be similar to what you have entered in your checkbook or receive in your
monthly statements. Using this is slower because it must recalculate the
individual balances if it has changed since the last time in the overview.

.subject 2 Automatically Close Date Editor .story Checking [ C ] this will
close the date editor when you tap Set Date.If it is unchecked then the date
editor will stay open until you close it.

.subject 2 Show Date Only (no time) .story Checking[ C ] this will only show
the date in the date field. If this is unchecked then the time and the date
will be displayed.

.subject 2 Scroll full page in the overview .story Checking [ C ] this will
scroll a full page of entries minus one in the overview. If unchecked the
overview scrolls an half page of entries at a time.

.subject 2 Newton Connection Kit

.subject 3 QIF Support: .story Choose this if you are exporting to Quicken, MYM
or other PC applications that can import QIF formatted files. .story goto=NCK
(See Appendix C for more information.)

.subject 3 Basic Support: .story Choose this if you wish to export tab
deliminated files to a database or to a spreadsheet.

.subject 2 ATM fee .story This accepts a numeric value. This value amount will
be the default for the ATM # (w/fee). A default popup of choices is available
for you to choose from by tapping the black diamond or label

.subject 2 Password .story For those of you who wish a password just for
PocketMoney. Enter you password here and the next time PocketMoney is run you
will be prompted for the password.

.subject StartsPage name=Assist Assist .story Setting up repeating
transactions in the calendar or in a todo list program and using Assist will
give you more flexibility than I could implement into PocketMoney and I wonUt
have to duplicate others efforts. The following graphic is a repeating
transaction setup via the calendar and by using NotifyAssist by Bill Kearney to
use Intelligent Assistance on whatever text is in the reminder boxes allows me
to add the repeating transaction to PocketMoney with relative ease.

.subject 2 Intelligent Assist Verbs .story The verbs that you can use with the
Intelligent Assist are the words that are found in the New popup. RWithdrawS,
RDepositS, and RTransferS.

.picture

.subject 2 Calendar reminders and Assist using NotifyAssist .story The first
thing I would like to say is if you need help with getting the Assist to work
correctly please email me and IUll help you get it to work. The assist function
was implemented to allow you to set up repeating payments or bills. I did not
implement it in the write an english sentence and let Intelligent Assist take
60 seconds to figure it out. Depending on the size of you name file it will
take anywhere from 3 seconds to 10 seconds. Because of my implementation I need
to tell you the rules to follow to set assist support up correctly for maximum
performance. The basic implementation is: action
account\category\to\amount\notes An example of this would be: withdraw
Pocket\food\McDonalds\4\Big_Mac_and_fries The english equivalent would be
Rwithdraw $4 from Pocket account for food at McDonalds for Big Mac and friesS A
couple more examples are: transfer Checking\entertainment\Visa\300\ Leaving the
last slash on will leave the notes field blank. deposit
Checking\salary\Apple_Computer\1500\base_pay Notice the T_U underscores used in
place of spaces. If you have any other spaces other than the space between the
action and the rest of the phrase it will slow down Assist terribly.

.subject StartsPage name=Filters Using Filters .story Filters allow you a
powerful way to display subsets of entries. PocketMoney dynamically updates the
views every time the Newton redraws the screen. This means that if you change
a value that does not conform to the current filter, the items will not appear
in the Overview or Entry View until after you scroll. .picture

.story Using the filters is very easy. You just pick which items you would like
displayed and tap Set Filter. Tapping the close box will leave the filter
unchanged. The Dates From and Dates To filters are inclusive. If you want to
see all dates both Dates From and Dates To must be blank. *** To blank out the
Dates From, Dates To, or Location you must scrub it out similar to how you would erase
something in the notepad.*** Clear Filter was added which will turn off all
filters. Filters are also saved accross reboots.

.subject StartsPage Dragging Windows .story You can drag all windows by
tapping within 10 pixels of the boarder of the window and dragging the window
to where you want it. Looking at the above graphic of the Filter window you
would tap not on the grey or black of the border, but in the white space right
next to the grey.

The window position will be remembered until the next time you reboot the
Newton.

.subject StartsPage Appendexes .story It didnUt make much sense to keep the
title to the appendexes A,B,... in the table of contents for the Newton Book so
IUm just going to mark the start of the appendexes with the RAppendixS item.
.subject StartsPage name=ListEditor Changing Accounts/Categories/To/From Lists
.story The editable popup list is one of the outstanding features of
PocketMoney and MPG. These popup lists are completely user definable using a
fairly simple interface. .picture

.story Picking Edit out of the popup list will bring up the list editor so that
we my add, change or remove list items. .picture

.story Above (starting at top left -> top right -> bottom left -> bottom right)
is a sequence of steps that was used to change RFirst Fidelity SavingsS to
RSavingsS. On the Edit Me line you can either write in or select from the popup
the item you wish to add, change, or remove. If your entry is in the popup list
then the soup is searched and returns the number of items found. If no items
were found, but your entry appears in the popup list then the button will
change to Remove allowing you to remove it from the list. If your entry does
not appear in the list then the button will change to Add allowing you to add
it to the list. If items were found then the Change To appears as in the above
graphic. You can then write in or pick from the list an item to change it to.
If the item written in is not in the list then a new item will be added to the
list when you tap the Change button.

The latest version of the Array Editor allows you to change or remove an item
if it finds matches in the soup. This allows you to keep your lists small if
you have a lot of closed accounts, but still have your data stored in the soup.
.subject StartsPage name=DateEditor Using The Date Editor .story The interface
should be familiar. It almost the same as in the Date and Time preference in
the Newton Preferences so I will be short on explanations. .picture

name=NCK NCK .story You can edit withdraw and deposits within NCK. You can also
create new withdraws or deposits. You can import normal delimited files into
PocketMoney. Editing of transfers is not supported.

.subject 2 Adding Quicken & MYM (QIF) Support To PocketMoney .story Quicken and
MYM can import transactions from a common file format called QIF. QIF stands
for Quicken Interchange Format.

* Newton Connection Kit version 2.0 or greater is required.

There are 4 steps to synchronizing with a PC based accounting application.

1. First make sure that the Newton Connection Kit setting in the PocketMoney
prefs on the Newton is set to QIF Support. 2. You then need to synchronize your
Newton to NCK. Please refer to the Newton Connection Kit documentation for
synchronization questions. 3. This step only needs to be done once after you
initially synchronize. Please see .story goto=NCKExport Setting Up Newton
Connection Kit to Export for information on setting up the export template. 4.
Please see .story goto=NCKtoQIF Getting your data from NCK into QIF format into
the PC Application in the following subsections for information on step four.

.subject 2 name=NCKExport Setting Up Newton Connection Kit to Export .story You
will need to create an export template in the NCK for exporting of QIF data. It
is very easy.

1. In the File menu choose Create a Template for PocketMoney File. 2. Name the
template "Quicken", "MYM or whatever you wish. 3. Select QIF from the left
column and click add to move it to the right column. .picture
name=NCKExportGraphic

.story 4. Click Create. ThatUs all there is to creating the template.

.subject 2 name=NCKtoQIF Getting your data from NCK into QIF format into PC
Application .story Quicken only allows you to import one type of account into
it at a time so you must create a separate QIF file for each account. So, a
little more work is required in NCK.

1. Browse the PocketMoney File. 2. Select the Account column and Sort on it. 3.
Select all the rows for the first account you wish to export 4. Select
Export... > Quicken (or what you named your template) 5. Name the file
appropriately. For example, "Bank of Vermont Savings.qif" 6. NCK will tell you
how many records you exported. This number will be 9 times the number of rows
that you selected. If the number of records exported is equal to the number of
rows you selected then you had the preference setting wrong and you should
correct the prefs in PocketMoney and resynchronize and try again. 6. Run your
PC based financial application and import the newly created file.

.subject 2 Importing PC based data into PocketMoney .story Something a lot of
people have been asking for is the ability to take their Quicken data and
import it into PocketMoney. Well, you can do this now. You will need to create
a seperate template from the export template you created for exporting QIF
data.

1. In the File menu choose Create a Template for PocketMoney File. 2. Name the
template "Quicken Import" or whatever you wish. 3. Select QIF from the left
column and click add to move it to the right column. .story
goto=NCKExportGraphic See the Template Graphic in the RSetting Up Newton
Connection Kit to ExportS section .story 4. Click Options 5. In the Options
screen you need to set the field seperator to T~U or T\U some character that
will not be in the data that you are importing. 6. The record seperator must be
set to T^U (shift-6). 7. Click Ok 8. Click Create. ThatUs all there is to
creating the template.

.subject 2 Getting you data into PocketMoney from Quicken .story 1. Follow the
instructions in Quicken for exporting data to a QIF file. 2. In NCK, choose the
template you created in the last section for importing Quicken data. 3. Select
the file you wish to import through the standard file open dialog box. 4. After
the data is finished being imported sync NCK with the Newton. * If the data
does not look right for example the only thing you see is the date set to
1/04/04 a bunch of times this is because you didnUt have QIF Support select in
the prefs of PocketMoney the last time you synch your Newton. Change it to QIF
Support and sync again. 5. On the Newton you must change the accounts because
QIF files do not have account names included in it and NCK set all of the newly
imported entries to have no account name. a. Choose edit in the account popup.
b. If you do not have a blank account in your popup add it now. i. scrub out
whatever is in the edit me line ii. tap add c. Now select the blank out of the
edit me popup and it will count the number of transactions you have that are
blank. d. Change these to the correct account by choosing the correct account
on from the change to popup.

.subject StartsPage Programmer Stuff .story If you wish to add stuff to the
PocketMoney soup you are welcome to. I have changed the process for 3rd party
programs to enter data into PocketMoney. It is very simple to implement. Please
send me email if you are interested and I will send you some sample code on how
to implement it.

.subject StartsPage Uninstalling PocketMoney .story Hopefully everyone will
think PocketMoney is the most useful package ever written and no one will ever
need to uninstall PocketMoney, but for those of you who must uninstall
PocketMoney I will give you instructions. You will need to install an utility
such as RemoveIt!, StewPot or Souper. I recommend RemoveIt!

1. Run RemoveIt! 2. Set the display to packages, select PocketMoney:VtHick and
tap remove item. 3. Set the display to soups, select Accounts (internal) and
(the Card), and tap remove item(s). 4. Set the display to system soup, select
PocketMoney:VtHick and tap remove item. 5. The next synchronization you do with
the Newton Connect Kit you need create a fresh backup. You make a fresh backup
by renaming the folder where the default backup is occurring (RHardy MaciaUs
NewtonS) to Rold syncS and then run the synchronization.

The above instructions will remove every trace of PocketMoney from your Newton.
If you delete only the PocketMoney package your data will be preserved. This
means the MessagePad Classic and MessagePad 100 users who only have 150k of ram
and no memory card can swap out packages without worrying about losing the
data, but I would suggest purchasing a memory card.
